Types of Hearing Aids 

  1. IIC (Invisible - In - the Canal)
    Invisible-In-canal (IIC) are the smallest invisible hearing aids inside the ear. Because IIC hearing aids fit the further down in the ear canal, they are well hidden and almost undetectable by others.
  2. CIC (Completely - In - the Canal)
    Positioned inside you ear canal CIC hearing aids are lightweight, custom-fit and easy to handle. With a removal tab visible in the outer ear, completely-in-the-canal hearing aids are almost completely invisible and allow your ear’s natural shape to funnel sound to the device the way it was meant to.
  3. RIC (Receiver-in-Canal)
    Receiver-In-Canal (RIC) hearing aids are worn behind the ear with a speaker (the “receiver”) that sits inside the ear canal.
  4. ITC (In -The Canal)
    In-The-Canal (ITC) is made to fit the size and shape of a person’s ear canal.
  5. BTE (Behind-The-Ear)
    Behind-The-Ear (BTE) hearing aids are hearing aids you wear outside of your outer ear. A small tube then routes the sound down into your ear canal.

How to clean your Hearing Aid

A hearing aid is made up of several different parts, each of which will need regular cleaning to ensure maximum performance and lifespan for your devices.
Here are a few measures that you can possibly take to keep your hearing aids clean:

  1. Use the micro-fibre cloth to wipe the body of aid before/after use.
  2. Wipe the domes/mould to remove wax debris.
  3. Depending on wax deposition, change wax guards.
  4. Use dehumidifier regularly to avoid moisture accumulation.

How to remove wax from Hearing Aid
Ear wax from domes/mould can be cleaned using the soft brush provided or if wax accumulation is higher, wax guard should be replaced.

Hearing Aid Batteries

Hearing aid batteries are the heartbeat of your hearing aids; they are essential to your ability to hear and enjoy the world around you. When you need to replace your batteries, remember they can come in a range of different sizes, and each type varies in terms of size, compatibility, and lifespan.
Not all batteries will work in your hearing aid: Below is the key information you need to know before choosing a battery for your hearing aids.


Types and Sizes of Hearing Aid Types Batteries
Hearing aid batteries mainly comes in 4 different sizes:

  1. Size 10 -commonly used in CIC and IICs
  2. Size 312 -commonly used in RICs
  3. Size 13 -commonly used in Standard and Power BTE's,
  4. Size 675 -commonly used in Super Power BTE's

How long do hearing aid batteries last?
The average life of a hearing aid battery depends various factors such as:

10-size battery lasts for an average of 90-100 hrs.
312-size battery lasts for an average of 150-160 hrs.
13-size battery lasts for an average of 220-230 hrs.
675-size battery lasts for an average of 500-530 hrs.

Tip: Battery always needs to be removed from behind the strip and wait for 1 minutes before placing inside hearing aid to maximise battery life. The longest lasting batteries are 675-size batteries used for super power  hearing aids.

Maintenance and correct use of batteries
When not being used for 3-4 days, the battery needs to be completely removed from the hearing aid. The batteries should never be kept in the dehumidifying kit. Always place the battery in the battery slot of the hearing aids, with the positive side facing upwards…
When should be the battery be changed?
After low battery warning is heard, it is advisable to change the battery immediately.
Tip: After complete discharge of the battery (no sign of squealing when held in hand), it should not be left in the hearing aid.
How to change hearing aid batteries?
Use the given battery removal tool to remove the battery.
New battery can be inserted using the same tool.
